YouTube is experimenting with an integration of Google Gemini to assist creators in brainstorming video ideas, titles, and thumbnails. This new feature, called Brainstorm with Gemini, was announced through a video on the Creator Insider channel.
A YouTube spokesperson informed TechCrunch that this feature is currently available to a select group of creators as part of a limited test. Feedback from these creators will help determine whether the feature will be widely released.
This tool could give YouTube an advantage over other social media video platforms by providing unique AI-driven assistance not available on those platforms. Google’s strategy is to integrate its AI into YouTube to encourage creators to utilize its tools instead of those from other providers like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Brainstorm with Gemini is similar to a previously tested AI-powered content inspiration tool launched in May. This tool offers creators video topic ideas based on audience interests and generates outlines of talking points to facilitate content creation.
The spokesperson mentioned that with Gemini, creators now have an additional option for content creation assistance. YouTube aims to determine if creators prefer the original inspiration tool, the Gemini integration, or both.
Creators participating in the experiment can access YouTube Studio, input a video idea into the search bar, and choose between the inspiration tool and the Brainstorm with Gemini feature. While the inspiration tool already aids in generating video ideas, YouTube is assessing if creators also find the Gemini brainstorming feature beneficial.
Unlike platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, which are focusing on generative AI to create digital avatars for creators, YouTube is concentrating on using AI to enhance content creation directly.
