- Citizenship and Character: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka and of excellent character.
- Age Limit: Minimum 18 years and maximum 30 years as of the closing date of applications.
- Physical Fitness: Must possess adequate physical and mental fitness to serve in any area of Sri Lanka.
- Educational Qualifications: All posts require passing the G.C.E. (O/L) examination in one sitting with six subjects, including credit passes in Sinhala/Tamil/English, Mathematics, and two other subjects.
- Note: Specific G.C.E. (A/L) and Professional Qualifications apply to each designation (e.g., Entomology Assistant requires A/L in Biological Science stream including Biology, and a National Technological Diploma (Agriculture) from Hardy Institute – Ampara).
Recruitment and Appointment Details
- Method: Based on a written test and a general interview.
- The written test consists of an Aptitude Test (100 marks, 40% pass required) and a Subject-Based Technical Test (100 marks, 40% pass required).
- The general interview is for verification of educational and physical qualifications; no marks are awarded.
- Salary Scale (MN-3-2025): Rs. 52,250−10×800−11×1,190−10×1,320−10×1,350−100,040.
- Terms: Permanent and pensionable, subject to a three-year probationary period.

🧑🍳 Parliament of Sri Lanka: Post of Cook
Applications are invited from Sri Lankan citizens for four vacancies for the Post of Cook on the Staff of the Secretary General of Parliament.
Key Requirements
- Age Limit: Not less than 18 years and not more than 40 years as of the closing date.
- Educational Qualifications: Must have passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination in six subjects, including a Credit Pass for Sinhala/Tamil and Passes for English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
- Professional Qualifications: A basic level cookery certificate from SLITHM, VTA, or any other government-recognized institution.
- Experience: Not less than five years of working experience as a Cook in a star-class hotel or government-recognized institution after completing the educational and professional qualifications.
Recruitment and Compensation
- Method: Through a trade test and an interview.
- 50% of vacancies will be filled by external candidates and 50% by internal candidates.
- Candidates who qualify at the trade test (maximum 100 marks) will be called for an interview (maximum 100 marks).
- Salary Scale: Rs. 51,020–11×590/10×680–64,310 (approximately Rs. 89,000/- initial monthly remuneration with allowances).
- Terms: Permanent and pensionable, with an initial three-year probation period.
